Jarvis Brook 0 Dormansland Rockets 3 Mid Sussex Premier Division

Jarvis Brook first eleven lost their second consecutive Premier League game at Limekiln on Saturday to a strong Dormansland side pushing for the title.
Ian Black was once again called upon for goalkeeping duties whilst man of the match Russ Anderson came back into the side after a week’s vacation. Daniel Lawrence was given a chance to start up front with talisman striker Luke Turner.
Jarvis Brook didn’t start too badly with a couple of forays into their opponents penalty area but it was the away side who took an early advantage when their prolific striker was allowed to blast home from close range.
The Brook's width on the right was working well. Skipper James Pett and Dan Wright having joy wide and with Lawrence adding his presence Jarvis Brook continued to push for an equaliser. Turner had a couple of half chances and both Ross Frampton and Anderson tried their luck from range but things were not running for Jarvis Brook in and around the penalty area.
The home sides back four of Chris page, Toby Chapman, Dan Berwick and James Pett were coming under increased pressure and just before half time Dormansland added a second as their number nine turned and drove a shot just past the outstretched arm of Black.
Half time was not a time for panic but words of encouragement, “We’re going through a rough patch but I cannot fault the commitment from the lads” explained manager Chris Frampton as he re-emerged from the Limekiln changing rooms.
The second half once again found the Brook trying hard to break down their opponents. Chris Page and Ross Sinclair working well on the left and the right still as productive as the first half but this was tough nut to crack. Half chances from Lawrence and Sinclair were not taken and Anderson should have done better from six yards are good work saw him break through into his oppositions penalty area.
Changes were tried, Jordan Broome replacing Dan Wright and Richard Cummins coming on for Toby Chapman who was struggling with a niggling groin.
Dormansland added a third when their number eleven was allowed enough time from eight yards out to control and slot into the far corner before just before the final whistle sounded keeper Ian Black produced an outstanding save to foil the Dormansland number nine’s hat trick.

Buxted II 1 Jarvis Brook II 0 Mid Sussex Division Five

After two excellent results in the last two weeks Jarvis Brook reserves left to make the short journey over the A272 with the well wishes of local man Robert Hunnisett and almost took points off their high flying near neighbours.
Reshuffle was once more on the agenda. Carl Leppard, having found a rich vein of form sustained an ankle injury courtesy of a snow board but top scorer Chris Smith who was making a fleeting visit was drafted in. Sam Pelling sub for the previous two weeks made a start whilst Ben Richardson after a hamstring injury also made the starting eleven.
Buxted started better in the first half. Bothe their wingers made an impact especially on the right whilst their number nine looked a handful that centre back Olly Pay was going to have to work hard to nullify. When in possession though the Brook tried to break a solid Buxted back four. Richardson was powerful on the left, Chris Smith worked tirelessly as the lone striker and Jordan Vinall got better during the half.
Craig Harman worked a chance on the side of the area but his chance was blocked whilst Smith was not able to convert the rebound whilst Richardson tried to get onto through balls on two occasions but could not get a touch when needed.
Buxted thought they had taken the lead from a beautiful inswinging corner which Brook keeper Ian Black did well to paw out at the near post.
On twenty five minutes Jarvis Brook lost their stalwart defender Joe Fuller with a groin injury and whilst he was struggling with his injury Buxted pounced to teak the lead after an excellent break by their young left winger and pin point cross allowed their number nine to tap home from six yards. Jess Fuller replaced his elder brother at the heart of the Brooks defence as they looked for the equalizer.
Richardson tried speculatively from eighteen yards out and a nasty bounce brought out an excellent save from Buxted’s keeper
At half time co-managers Black and Paul Neale encouraged their players. A change of formation back to a 4-4-2 allowed, they hoped, a more attack minded side. “ We were in the game against one of the top teams but felt we could get something out of the match but being more dominating up front” explained Neale as he massaged his aching hip.
Things seemed to work. Vinall now on the left saw more of the ball, Pelling pushed the Brooks right wing onwards and midfielder Harman saw more of the ball.
A handball inside the Buxted area on sixty minutes gave Jarvis Brook a penalty but as is their way with having missed seven out of their last thirteen penalties the opportunity was spurned whilst five minutes later a Chris Smith effort cannoned down off the underside of the crossbar. Did it go over the line? Without tv camera’s we may never know but Jarvis Brook players were convinced it had. They did not let it get them and to their credit tried to carry on in an attacking vein. Paul Neale was replaced by Jordan Broome and the young midfielder tried to keep the Brook going the right way.
Buxted also looked dangerous going forward. Brook’s central defender Ian Storer was replaced by Liam Boyles allowing Jess Fuller to sit in at centre back and he was called upon twice to thwart Buxted chances. The home side thought they notched a second but a foul on keeper Black as he was collecting the cross ruled out the chance.
The reserves came back to Jarvis Brook disappointed. “ I thought we deserved something out of the game after a much improved second half performance, but bearing in mind our results before and just after the christmas and new year period we have given ourselves a chance in the last four games without perhaps getting what we deserved”
