Chairmans Report – October 2011
Sunday section
It is with much sadness that we have made the decision to pull the Sunday team out of the Lewes League only a month into the season. The Committee feel it is at present the right decision to make at the present time. Over the last 15 years we have enjoyed much success while running two teams for 8 years in that period. The aim long term is to bring the Sunday section back when the time is right and who is to say the Club cannot return to having a successful Sunday team again.
Sponsorship
I am delighted to announce new sponsors for the Club, JMC Building & Carpentry (Spike and Karen Rodemark). I would like to express my thanks to Spike and Karen for their support. Also, can I express my thanks to Rob Godfrey (Godfrey Tyres) for his sponsorship deal.
Sponsorship is something we are trying to increase to further develop the Club for a secure future.
Discipline
Last season our overall discipline was poor, however this season has seen a vast improvement , let’s hope we can keep it this way over the coming months.
Social Events
Our Snail Race Night on Saturday 8th October was a great success, many thanks to those who attended, those who donated beforehand plus thanks to all our kind sponsors on the night. The night was organised by Spike and Karen who did an outstanding job before and on the night, money raised will be announced shortly. We aim to hold a quiz night next, followed by a Golf Day so please look out for further details.
Retirement
As you all know John and Bet Hunnisett have now retired from the Jarvis Brook Social Club, on behalf of the Club can we all wish them a long and happy retirement and thank them for all their support for Jarvis Brook Football Club over the years. John introduced the bonus ball for us over 15 years ago and has donated footballs and kit over the years for which we are most grateful.
Regards
Phil
